Mother's Song Circle

  • SaunaGlo 1915 Southeast Jefferson Street Milwaukie, OR, 97222 United States (map)
Book Now

Are you longing for more ritual or to drop into sacred space with others? Gather around this fire and join a small group of mother's as we come together in the ancient practice of song sharing—rooted in supporting those who relate to the Mother archetype: the one who nourishes, holds, creates, and remembers.

  • Limited to 8 participants

  • Sliding scale: $20-$60 suggested

  • Last Thursday every month

We will move between sauna and cold water if desired, using heat and cold as ritual allies. Within the sauna, we’ll explore guided self-massage to soften and open the body’s tissues, followed by embodied toning to awaken and prepare the voice. From there, we’ll practice simple call-and-response circle songs (no prior singing experience required) and moments of sharing and reflection.

This group encourages you to show up as you are and practice being together through song, reflection, and embodied tools that support authentic expression. This song circle is not about sounding good, it's about remembering the body and voice as a vessel for care, connection, and creation. The intention is to call in a different kind of beauty—one of authenticity and embodied feeling (all are welcome). Together, we practice singing as a way of tending the inner Mother and calling forth the sacred through shared sound.

All voices are a gift. Please join us in honoring our voices and feeling into the power and nourishment that arises when they join together.

You are welcome to arrive early and enjoy the sauna and the cold plunge before the doors close to the public at 8pm and our group begins. We recommend being ready to enter the sauna clean, dry, and free of oils and lotions for the benefit of self massage. This may mean arriving early to shower and dry off as well as settle and organize before the doors close at 8:10pm and our circle begins. A robe is recommended, along with 2 towels and sandals. Although this is a guided gathering, we see the structure as an invitation, and support all people being at choice at all times. We encourage a circle that holds space for open sharing and open hearts, and compassionate witnessing without trying to fix or change anyone's experience.

Note: this event is open to anyone who identifies with the mother archetype in any way- this includes mothers of living or nonliving children, and mothers of nonhuman beings.

About Genevieve Layman

Genevieve is studying to become a therapist and a somatic experiencing practitioner. She grew up singing in community as a way to enter sacred space together and honor times of transition with loved ones. Genevieve is excited to co-facilitate a container where mothers can raise their voices together in the heat of the sauna and feel into connection with each other and to the mother of us all.

About MaryJane Veatch

MaryJane is a massage therapist and an enthusiast for anything that invites embodied authentic expression. She has had a lifelong fear of using her voice that came to light when she became a mother, which is leading her on a journey of awakening and reclamation of her voice. She is equally terrified and reveling in the thought of co-facilitating and sharing this space with a group of mother's.
